Initiatives

Sehar - Dawn of a New Round

An initiative under the captainship of Ms.Kanupriya to provide therapeutic movement sessions for the children studying at Free School Under The Bridge (FSUTB).  The therapeutic movement sessions that Sehar provides are designed to be playful and engaging, encouraging children to participate and have fun while also providing them with the tools they need to manage their emotions and cope with stress. We recognize the importance of mental health and well-being, especially for children who may be facing challenging circumstances. Through our therapeutic movement sessions, we provide them with a safe space to express themselves and alleviate any stress and anxiety they may be experiencing.

Our therapeutic movement sessions involve physical activities that are specifically designed to support mental and emotional well-being. These activities include yoga, dance, arts, and other exercises that allow children to move their bodies in a way that promotes relaxation, mindfulness, and self-awareness. Our tenets focus on helping children build self-confidence, develop coping skills, improve social skills, and enhance their overall mental health.

At SiF, we recognize that the children studying at FSUTB may be facing various challenges in their lives, which can affect their mental health and well-being. Therefore, our tenets of therapeutic movement sessions for children focus on building self-confidence by encouraging them to try new things and take risks in a safe and supportive environment. Children also learn coping skills such as breathing techniques and mindfulness practices that they can use to manage their emotions and regulate their responses to challenging situations. Additionally, therapeutic movement sessions improve social skills by providing children with opportunities to interact and collaborate with their peers, building positive relationships and enhancing their sense of community and belonging.

The benefits of our therapeutic movement sessions are significant, and they extend beyond just improving mental health and well-being. Regular participation can improve physical health by promoting physical activity, flexibility, and coordination. It can also enhance cognitive function, attention, and academic performance, as well as provide a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem.

In summary, Sehar is an important initiative that recognizes the need for mental health and well-being for children studying at Free School Under The Bridge. The benefits of therapeutic movement sessions are significant and extend beyond just mental health, and we are proud to be making a positive impact on the lives of these children.

Anayaa - Blessing of Life

A new innings began on September 1, 2021 for Anayaa (also referred to as a special-needs child) and her family. An innings which would help her combat her “special needs” and lead a life of normalcy, like her peers. Under the expertise of Chering Bodh, a Special Educator with over 12 years of experience working with differently abled children, along with her enthusiasm to bridge the gap for children with special needs, the program commenced in the town of Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India.

In many ways, the program offering was one of the initial steps in bringing about a radical change in the social fabric of the society towards children with special needs. More often than not, a ‘special need’ is looked upon as a ‘special liability’ or an additional burden to be hailed by the family of a special-needs child. The premise of the program is to ward off the perceived “burden” from the special child’s parent, help fill in the need-gap for the special child, and create a world where disability is not looked down upon.

While the program strives to provide supportive measures for each uniquely abled child, the long term vision of the program is to create independent, self-sufficient and confident future individuals, capable of facing the demands and challenges of everyday life. Hence, the program aims to create a standardized framework to deliver holistic development (intellectual, mental, physical, emotional and social) and empower specially-abled children to lead the lives they deserve.

Whether a child requires additional support of a specific learning-based need or has a particular cognitive/motor need, the program caters to the diverse needs of all children with a well-rounded delivery model which includes methods like brain gym, child-friendly yoga, as well as a specialized sports education program (Inspirar).

In the spirit of “Second innings are incomplete without the proper guidance of a Coach,”  a multifaceted sports education program (Inspirar) has been integrated to the program curriculum by Coach Sarthak Mishra, to emphasize the importance of physical education in children’s overall well-being. In association with SiF, Inspirar aims to provide an integrated modern sports curriculum and comprehensive sports career guidance to aid physical, mental, and emotional balance in children and young adults.

Masoom Duniya

Masoom Duniya was established by Mr. Byomendra Nayal with the aim of enhancing the well-being and progress of individuals, special needs children and adults, who are dealing with conditions such as slow learning, ADHD, mental retardation, down Syndrome, Cerebral palsy, hearing and speech impairments. This initiative is being developed as a hub for offering various forms of assistance to these special individuals, enabling them to become an integral part of the broader community.

Since 2022, members of the SiF team have been providing support to Masoom Duniya by organizing and financing a variety of programs and events.

Free School Under The Bridge (FSUTB)

Founded by Rajesh Kumar Sharma, FSUTB has been providing free education to hundreds of needy children in New Delhi for over ten years. It nestles between the massive number five and number six pillars of the aerial metro.

Members of SiF team have been supporting the movement of FSUTB since 2017. Our long-term goal is to support this movement by providing permanent teaching staff and infrastructure to FSUTB.
